We repair chipped glass balustrade panels, curtain walling, shopfronts, bifold/patio doors and residential and commercial windows.

There are many causes of chips, edge slithers, shells, and bullseye damages in glass.

It may be from a scaffold pole accidently catching a glass window on a construction site, it may be from stones being flung up from passing traffic, or your lawn mower in the garden; sometimes the cause is not known, and the chip damage is just found during a snagging inspection, or routine cleaning.

We provide this service to anyone who has chip or shell, impact damages to glass. We work with professionals in the construction/trade industry where the damage has occurred during the project life cycle and picked up on snagging, a retail company who has a chipped glass cabinet, or a glass manufacturer with nicks to the edge of glass panels.

Each impact damage is unique, making each repair unique. Our technicians have seen a variety of chipped glass damages and know the best way to repair them, restoring the glass.

Why have the Chipped Glass Panel Restored instead of Replaced?

Our aim is to provide you with an alternative option to replacing damaged chipped glass panels for new. Our focus is on providing an excellent, efficient service, along with high quality workmanship to the repair of chipped and shelled glass panels.

Our turnaround to come to your site, place of work or home, is generally quicker than the time taken for new glass to be ordered and processed, reducing the time of having unsafe glass on site, especially with sharp edges, or if you are up against handover deadlines.

How do we Repair Chips in Glass?

How do we Repair Chips in Glass?

All our glass chip repairs are undertaken on-site whilst the glass is in-situ, using UV cured resins and tools specially designed for this job.

Where the damage (chip, shell) is located on the edge of a glass panel, such as shells and slither damages, our resin repair system enables the technician to rebuild the damaged piece of glass using tabs and resins, before shaping and polishing it back to match the original profile.  For damages located within the panel, such as bullseyes and star chips, we use a vacuum tool (an injector) designed to remove air and moisture from the void before filling the break completely with the resins.

The result will not be an invisible repair, as there will be scarring where the resin meets the glass, however, both processes leave the chipped glass area with a smooth, clear and safe finish that is both structurally stable and with the original profile restored.

We can:

  • offer you free impartial advice
  • provide you with a free, no-obligation quotation
  • attend at a time that suits you; maybe when you are on-site, or when you are closed to avoid any disruption to your business
  • attend out of working hours, evenings, early mornings or weekends
  • to be on-site for you, within 48 hours (that is our aim), reducing the time you are with damaged glass
  • come to site, and remove the damage with the glass in-situ
  • repair the panel, stopping it from heading as waste to the landfill
  • offer what we feel is a fair price for the service we offer

These are the different types of damages we can repair

Each impact damage is unique; however, we hope the images that you can see on this page provides you an idea of the impact damages to glass that we can repair for you.

Edge Chips

Edge Chips

These can be multiple chips along the edge, or just a singular chip.

Edge Slithers

Edge Slithers

Unlike a chip, an edge slither removes a long thin shard of glass from the profiled edge. Often with a deeper area of impact in one point.

Shells

Shells

The glass has chipped from the edge and taken a 'shell' piece of glass off the glass frontage.

Multiple Shells

Multiple Shells

Like a shell impact, there are multiple small 'shells' along the edge of the glass.

Star/Spider Impact

Star/Spider Impact

Located within the main part of the panel, not on the edge. A star/spide impact has small multiple cracks coming out of the point of contact.

Bullseyes

Bullseyes

Located within the main part of the panel, a bullseye impact damage looks like an eye, with the pupil being the main point of impact.
